Old Jail in Regina Ghost Story

The Territorial Jail, dating back to 1885, was located near the SW corner of Broad Street and College Avenue, on the north shore of Wascana Lake. This land was designated as federal Government Reserve on the 1882 CPR Townsite Plan.

In the hush of twilight, secrets of the past whisper through the eerie expanse near the junction of Broad Street and Broadway Avenue.

A seemingly ordinary parking lot veils a history both grim and ghostly – once a haven of shadows, the land cradled an asylum where tortured souls met their tragic end.

This very soil holds the echoes of a chilling past.

In a time veiled by the mist of years, an Italian maestro and his companion traversed this enigmatic land. Yet, their journey spiralled into darkness as they were ensnared by accusations of murder.

The fates of these ill-fated wanderers diverged; one faced the hangman’s noose in Regina, where the parking lot now sprawls, his final plea a haunting echo of innocence.

His companion spared the gallows, found himself within the chilling embrace of a Manitoba penitentiary, a life sentence that ominously shifted as he got let out a year later because his charges were revoked.

As whispers swirl among the night winds, one can’t help but ponder if the lament of the wronged soul still lingers, a spectral guardian of the secrets buried beneath the earth’s cloak.
