The Kerrobert Courthouse Ghost Story
In the heart of Kerrobert stands the iconic Municipal Heritage Site, the Kerrobert Courthouse. Closed as a judicial center in 1996, it now houses municipal offices, a museum, library, and courtroom gallery.
The building is infamous for its eerie occurrences, from disembodied whispers to ghostly footsteps. Some believe these hauntings are tied to a 1931 murder trial led by future Prime Minister John G. Diefenbaker.
Paranormal enthusiasts, including teams from prominent ghost hunting societies and TV shows, have documented unexplained sightings and sounds.
Among the tales, children have reported seeing apparitions, a former judge experienced a disturbing nocturnal event, and several have felt inexplicable dread within the building.
Mysterious events, like the simultaneous failure of elevator batteries and untraceable odors and powders, further fuel the rumors of the supernatural.
Despite its majestic architecture, many, including the town’s Recreation Director, find the courthouse too unsettling to navigate at night.
